Get To Know Me!

Hello! And welcome to the Farm Bar family! I'm Elysia and I am the creator of The Farm Bar, I'm the farmer, candle maker, florist and crazy hippy chick who randomly decided to start a micro farm, renovate a trailer to use as a pop up shop and turn all my fun little hobbies into products to share with you guys!

I want to share a little about myself and my journey. I was born and raised in Washington State, where I still live. I grew up loving the outdoors, dancing and making a fool out of myself! I went to Northwest University where I got my Bachelors degree in Ministry Leadership and I currently work full time as a nanny watching the sweetest, craziest and most loving kids in the world (Im pretty freaking lucky).

So you're probably wondering, "you work full time, what the heck are you doing trying to run a business and flower farm!?" Well this was all by accident and I just can't stop, it's a part of me now! When I was in high school I went to a relatives house and she had a huge dahlia garden and I knew after that, dahlias would be my favorite flower. They are diverse and resilient and stunning and I fell in love with them but never thought I'd grow them as a business. It wasn't until I helped make a friends wedding bouquets in 2019 that I realized I love flowers and could make pretty things with them so from there I started booking with friends and family as a wedding florist which has been a crazy and exciting adventure!

Fast forward to 2020 when the pandemic hit and I did what a bunch of people did, went a little crazy and then decided to grow my first garden which included 25 dahlia tubers, all different kinds so I could practice arranging! At the same time me and my boyfriend also built the tiny home that we live in which gave me a whole new kind of confidence so when I had the idea to take an ugly old trailer and make it a pop-up flower shop I had no doubts that I'd make it a reality, so that's what I did. When the holidays rolled around I wanted to try making my own candles and then figured I might as well sell some while I'm at it, so that also got thrown into the mix. As of today, I have a micro flower farm, a trailer I take around the Maple Valley area to sell my products like fresh cut bouquets, hand poured candles, farm bar merch, do flowers for wedding and events throw garden parties for friends and family and constantly brainstorm new products I can create.... I must say I've been loving every minute of it!

But outside of this business I've built, I'm just a down to earth, nature loving, adventure seeking, mushroom loving, tea drinking, kid wrangling, dog mom who is seeking a life full of peace and joy on a big old piece of land in the woods one day! Thanks for following along on my journey and welcome to the Farm Bar Family!
